Cancer patients have special nutritional needs and questions. That is why the Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center provides resources for proper nutrition to anyone receiving treatment for cancer.
A clinical dietitian is available to speak with any Parkview patient for assessment of initial nutritional needs, additional intervention and follow-up. For individuals receiving outpatient treatment, appointments can be made to coincide with treatment schedules.
Parkview dietitians can help cancer patients make the best choices for common individual food and beverage preferences. Counseling on nutritional supplements is available for patients who are unable to maintain adequate oral intake of calories, protein and hydration. Nutritional supplements can be used simply to enhance patient health or when eating solid food is difficult.
Resource materials are available to assist with common feeding or eating problems and special diets. An informative, free booklet from the National Cancer Institute, Eating Hints for Cancer Patients Before, During and After Treatment, contains helpful nutrition information and recipes.
