Patricia I. Bader, MD, Medical Geneticist
Patricia Bader, MD, has guided the operations of the Parkview Genetics Center for more than 30 years as its medical director. Board-certified in pediatrics, medical genetics and clinical cytogenetics, she has long advocated genetic testing as a powerful tool to enable researchers, physicians and families to solve medical mysteries.
Bader’s early studies on chromosomes, single genes and heredity among the Amish in northern Indiana formed the beginning of the practice of clinical genetics and cytogenetics in the region. She founded Parkview Health Laboratories’ Genetics Center in the early 1980s, and shortly thereafter, opened her private practice, Northeast Indiana Genetic Counseling Center.
Bader is an active participant in several area professional programs, and is a former president of the Genetics Advisory Committee of the Indiana State Department of Health. She remains an active contributor to professional publications pertaining to both the clinical and laboratory perspectives.
Bader received her undergraduate degree from DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind., and her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Ind.
