Nancy Schenkel
Matthew 25
“Parkview is our major hospital partner. We literally could not do what we do without Parkview. Many patients coming to Matthew 25 haven’t seen a doctor in years. And we’re able to do ongoing, continuing care of that patient. So when we see a diabetic who’s losing their eyesight and can’t hold down a job, and then see them become healthy and go back to work, that’s rewarding. A healthy community is a working community.”

Parkview Women’s & Children’s Hospital patient
I had a plan for my delivery and it did not go as planned. I unfortunately ended up having a prolapsed cord and I couldn't have asked for a better staff to be here when it happened. I'm aware that it's a rare case and they acted as if they do it every day. They were right on and I didn't worry as much because they were calm and kept myself calm and my whole family calm. So, I was really impressed with the staff. I tell all my friends to deliver here!

Tim Pease, Kendallville
Trauma patient
“I remember the sound of the Samaritan helicopter and a crew member saying, ‘I’m going to take care of you, buddy.’ At Parkview, I had remarkable doctors, countless nurses and other staff members who took around-the-clock care of me. I kept wondering why total strangers would work so hard to make me as comfortable as possible. Then I realized — they’re truly caring professionals. I can’t say thank you enough to all of the people who saved my life.”
Melvin Smith, Fort Wayne
Prostate cancer patient
“The staff at the Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center was great. I decided to have CyberKnife treatments. There’s no knife involved, no surgery; it’s external radiation with no pain. And it couldn’t have been easier. I didn’t have to take my clothes off. The machine just moved around me while I lay there and relaxed. I could even bring in my own CDs. Seven months later, my PSA is down to 1.0. I’m telling everyone I know about CyberKnife and Parkview. Guys need to learn about prostate cancer and treatments like CyberKnife before they’re diagnosed.”
Mark O'Shaughnessy, MD
Fort Wayne Cardiology physician
“I feel confident sending my patients to Parkview because they are committed to giving the patient the best possible outcome and the best possible service. And I’m not just talking about the physicians. I’m talking about nursing. I’m talking about food service. I’m talking about patient transport. Every aspect of Parkview is set up to be patient-centric, and the patient is THE most important thing. It’s not the financial bottom line. I’m proud to be a part of a health system like that.”
