Child Advocacy Center Announces Move to Parkview Campus.

11/11/2009

Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 – The Child Advocacy Center’s board of directors, in conjunction with Parkview Hospital representatives, today announced the center will move to 2730 E. State Street, Suite A on the Parkview Hospital campus.

This move will save the Child Advocacy Center thousands of dollars a year and provide a large space from which to operate.

The Child Advocacy Center was founded in 2000 as a neutral, child-friendly place where children alleging sexual abuse are interviewed by specially-trained professionals. At the same time, all persons interested in the case including prosecutors, police, social workers, victim’s advocates, the Department of Child Services and the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center participate in the interview via closed-circuit TV and wireless microphones. This allows everyone to hear a child at the same time and to ask any questions they may have through one person. This helps prevent the child from being re-traumatized by numerous interviews and allows for a more reliable and legally defensible testimony. Currently the Center is housed in the St. Joseph Hospital Medical Office Building at 800 Broadway, Suite 320, in Fort Wayne, IN. Children from throughout the northern portion of the state are served by the Center.
