The fourth annual Parkview Noble Hospital Bike Rodeo will be Saturday, April 30 from 8:15 a.m. to noon. Sponsored by Parkview Noble’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Department and Parkview Hospital Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center of Fort Wayne, this event will be held at the Rehab parking lot, directly across from the Parkview Noble Hospital Emergency entrance, 402 Sawyer Road, Kendallville.
Parents may sign their children up for one of five session times: 8:15, 9:00, 9:45, 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. Pre-registration is required and may be made by calling the Parkview Noble Outpatient Rehab Department at (260) 347-8824 or toll free at (888) 737-9311, ext. 78824. Registration is limited to 30 children per time session.
A free bike helmet will be given to each child who is pre-registered and completes the education and safety course. When children arrive at the event, they will first be fitted for their bicycle helmet. Next they will listen to a brief educational presentation and then complete a fun rodeo obstacle course where they can practice safe riding skills. Children, ages preschool through fifth grade, need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must be able to bring a bicycle or tricycle that they can ride through the safety course.
Additionally, the Noble County Medical Alliance will also be offering free WHALE Packets to participants. WHALE stands for “We Have A Little Emergency” and the packets contain stickers for car windows and car seats to help identify children and provide contact information should the vehicle be in an accident.
In the event of inclement weather, registration, helmet fitting and the safety presentations will be held inside the Parkview Noble Rehabilitation Department.
