LaGrange, IN — Parkview Home Health & Hospice will be hosting a series of seasonal flu and pneumonia vaccination clinics. The initiative is made possible with support from Parkview Hospital’s Community Health Improvement program. The vaccinations will be available for people nine years of age and older.
Times, dates and locations in LaGrange County are listed below:
• Wednesday, October 14, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Stroh Fire Station, 1175 East 425 South, Stroh
• Thursday, October 29, from 8 a.m. to noon
Topeka Fire Station, 110 South Main Street, Topeka
• Saturday, October 31, from 8 a.m. to noon
Parkview LaGrange Hospital, 207 North Townline, LaGrange
If individuals have proof of traditional Medicare Part B, a Medicare HMO or Medicaid, there will be no out-of-pocket expense. If individuals have any other insurance or no insurance, the out-of-pocket expense will be $21 for seasonal flu shots and $35 for pneumonia shots. Payment will be expected at the time of administration. Cash and personal checks will be accepted.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that individuals wanting to reduce the risk of contracting the flu should get a seasonal flu vaccine. While the seasonal flu vaccine will not protect you from the H1N1 flu virus, it is recommended that you get both vaccines this year. More information will be coming regarding H1N1 vaccine later in October.
