Parkview LaGrange Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Loren Helmuth, MD to its medical staff. Helmuth is board certified in general surgery and has been in practice in South Carolina since 1994.
“Dr. Helmuth will be a wonderful addition to the surgical staff here at the hospital,” said Rob Myers, chief operating officer at Parkview LaGrange. “In addition to his skill and experience as a surgeon, Dr. Helmuth comes to us with a history of working with Plain Church patients through his South Carolina practice where he has been very well regarded. We anticipate that he will be an excellent fit here in LaGrange County.”
“During my years in South Carolina, I have enjoyed working with patients from the Plain Church community, many of whom have come to me from quite some distance for general surgery procedures,” said Helmuth. “I have often explored the idea of moving into closer proximity to their more highly concentrated areas. Having the opportunity to partner with an established hospital system like Parkview has enabled this vision to come true.”
Helmuth earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, VA and his medical degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He did preliminary residency training at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT and interim training in family practice medicine at Lancaster General in Lancaster, PA. His surgical residency was completed at Thomason Hospital in El Paso, TX. Helmuth is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
The Helmuths have purchased property in LaGrange County and are in the process of building a new home. Joining Helmuth are his wife, Mairi, and their three grown children, Kayla, Shelby and Cody.
Dr. Helmuth’s primary office will be based at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, 207 N. Townline Road in LaGrange. He will also hold office hours at Shipshewana Family Healthcare and at Parkview Noble Hospital for one day a week in each location.
