Laura Lemings of the LaGrange County Community Foundation presented a check for over five hundred dollars to the Parkview LaGrange Foundation in support of Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography Program at the hospital’s recent Women’s Health Saturday event. The funds were raised through the Community Foundation’s fourth annual Valentine’s Day “Circle of Love” campaign.
“We truly appreciate the Circle of Love’s continuing support. Their generosity allows us to provide women with mammograms who might otherwise have put it off because of financial constraints,” said Debi Kennedy, community outreach coordinator for Parkview’s Comprehensive Cancer Center and Francine's Friends Mobile Mammography Program. Francine’s Friends mobile mammography program serves a twelve county area in northeastern Indiana. “Through donations like this one,” continued Kennedy, “women who have no insurance, a high deductible, or are without the financial resources needed, are able to receive an annual mammogram and more likely to be able to identify a problem early, when treatment is most effective.”
For a gift of five dollars or more, the Community Foundation’s “Circle of Love” sends a valentine to the person of your choice letting them know a gift has been made in his or her honor.
“Francine’s Friends seemed a natural fit for the monies raised through the ‘Circle of Love’,” said Lemings. “The Circle offers the opportunity to provide friends and loved ones a valentine with a lasting impact. What better opportunity than through helping to remove a financial barrier to a test that can save a woman’s life.”
