Parkview to host upcoming events

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Thursday, March 29, 2012 — Parkview will host several upcoming events.

The Diabetes Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at Parkview Hospital Randallia, 2200 Randallia Dr. For more information, call (260) 373-4280. The featured topic will be “The Role of Exercise in Living Well with Diabetes.”

The Northeast Indiana Amputee Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at the Parkview Ortho Hospital, entrance 7 on the Parkview North campus. For more information, call (260) 347-8824.

The programs below will be held at the Parkview Women’s Health Center, entrance 2C, 11123 Parkview Plaza Dr. Registration is required by calling (260) 672-6500.

Ask the Dietitian 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, April 10
Schedule 15 minutes with registered dietitian Kathy Wehrle to have nutrition questions answered. The event is free.

Conquering Mealtime Mania 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10
Parkview Dietitian Kathy Wehrle will lead the program. Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.

Exercise and Relaxation Sampler – Experience Yoga 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11
Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.

Osteoporosis Screening 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18
This screening lasts 15 minutes. $5 for Women’s Health Center members and $10 for non-members.

Foot Screenings with Dr. Michael McManus, Ortho NorthEast Noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18
For people experiencing pain, difficulty walking, changes in foot structure, or any condition of the skin or nails. Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.

The Sustainable Landscape and Garden 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19
Ricky Kemery from the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service in Allen County will lead the discussion and offer tips about landscaping and gardening. Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.

Foot Screenings with Dr. Dennis Chubinski, Parkview Physicians Group 2-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25
For people experiencing pain, difficulty walking, changes in foot structure, or any condition of the skin or nails. Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.

Chemotherapy, Biotherapy & You 1-2 p.m. Thursdays April 5 and 19
Patients will learn how treatments work, potential benefits and side effects and self-care measures to prevent and minimize side effects. The classes are free.

Answers from a Cancer Expert 1-3 p.m. Tuesdays April 10 and 24
Patients and family members can receive easy-to-understand answers to questions in a one-on-one setting with a clinical nurse specialist. The classes are free.
