Every October, drug plans start advertising their coverage changes for the coming year. Each year, you are able to switch plans between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31. If you change plans, the new plan begins Jan. 1, and the old plan ends automatically.
Drug plans may change the list of drugs they cover, the price and your share of the cost. Your plan is required by law to send you an “Annual Notice of Change” by Oct. 31. Carefully read the changes and compare your coverage with other plans every year to insure you are getting the most cost effective coverage.
At this program, Senior Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP) counselors demonstrate ways to compare your current plan with other options and answer your questions.
