Parkview Rehab Center Receives CARF

7/16/2009

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Friday, July 17, 2009 — Parkview Hospital officials today announced that the Parkview Rehabilitation Center has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for a three-year period, 2009-2012.

The Parkview Rehabilitation Center has been accredited for the following programs:
• Comprehensive Inpatient Medical Rehabilitation Program (child/adolescent and adult)
• Brain Injury Program (child/adolescent and adult)
• Stroke Program (adult)

The accreditation demonstrates that Parkview completed a peer review process and has shown a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.

“Parkview is proud to be a leader in rehabilitation care,” said Sue Ehinger, Chief Operating Officer, Parkview Hospital. “We are committed to providing the best patient care possible. This accreditation is a great honor for our dedicated staff that works each day to make a positive difference in the lives of our patients and their families.”

In most cases when CARF surveyors review a program, they provide recommendations afterward to help the program comply with national standards. Parkview is among the three percent of CARF-reviewed programs in the country that met all standards and did not require any recommendations.

“We are proud of the achievements we have made over the last 31 years in the quality and delivery of care to our patients,” said Dr. Madhav H. Bhat, medical director, Parkview Rehabilitation Center.

The Comprehensive Inpatient Medical Rehabilitation Program received initial accreditation in 1978. The Brain Injury Program has been accredited since 1988, and 2009 marks the first year for the Stroke Program.
