Event to be held at Parkview Field Aug. 10
Fort Wayne, Ind. – Monday, July 25, 2011 — Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center, in partnership with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, will offer free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screens for men 40 and older on Wednesday, Aug. 10.
The location for the screenings will be Parkview Field in the Lincoln Financial Group Event Center. Screenings will be from noon to 3 p.m. for the public and from 6 to 9 p.m. for men attending that evening’s TinCaps game. For an appointment, call (866) 784-6706.
The PSA screen, a simple blood test, detects potential problems in the prostate gland by measuring the amount of PSA in a man’s blood. The test can provide early detection and improve chances for surviving prostate cancer. If detected early, before spreading outside the prostate gland, prostate cancer is treatable and curable. Confidential test results will be sent directly to each man tested and his physician.
Men who have previously had PSA screens should establish a relationship with their family physician or urologist for a digital rectal exam and ongoing yearly follow-up.
