For the third year, the Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center is honoring individuals and groups who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to defeat cancer or improve the lives of people who have the disease.
The 2011 Parkview Cancer Care Award will be given to two deserving winners in a 12:30 p.m. ceremony in the cancer center lobby on the Parkview North Campus on August 31. Members of the public are welcome to attend and celebrate winners’ achievements.
Rae Gonterman, RN, MSN, NE-BC, senior vice president, Parkview Health Cancer Service Line, will read the finalists’ names at the ceremony and present the winners with commemorative artwork from the cancer center.
Each year, winners receive an original work by a local artist or group of artists. This year’s artwork – a decorative cloth wall-hanging – was donated by northeast Indiana weaver and Parkview Huntington Hospital employee Peggy Siders.
Winners are also honored with:
- Photos displayed at the cancer center for a year and then mounted in a special scrapbook
in the facility’s Cancer Resource Library
- Names engraved on a display plaque at the cancer center
- Brief information on their achievements added to the Cancer Care Award page in the
Cancer section of parkview.com
