Society’s standards for the “perfect” body and the media’s glamorization of thinness can cause women to feel dissatisfied with their bodies. Join Linda Smith, certified eating disorder specialist and therapist, Consulting and Counseling Associates, and Carly Thompson, local college student and advocate for eating disorder patients, as they reveal a powerful message on “true beauty.” Smith and Thompson will share stories of struggles against eating disorders and discuss how relationships are affected by these diseases and how thoughts influence behaviors. Learn ways to enhance your body image and improve your self-esteem. Most of all, you’ll learn why beauty is more than skin deep. Adolescents and adults are welcome.
